In the beginning

Here comes another Jeep from Wainui Willys Works! This CJ2A is much more of a tough truck than my M38. To start with it has a V8 under the hood and a drive train to back it up. A roll cage, disc brakes, open knuckle high pinion front diff and a crafty hydraulic clutch setup are all part of it, but Saginaw style power steering with the steering box hidden behind the front cross member and grill is one of my favourite bits of this build.
The frame and drive train were originally set up to have a repop MB body dropped on top but plans have changed and now an original (albeit slightly the worse for wear) CJ2A body will be rebuilt and fitted instead. This may well be the first non olive drab flat fender to drive from the Willys Works shed!

First thing you'll notice is that the tub is in 2 pieces - for whatever reason the previous owner decided to cut it in half. No real issue as the old girl is pretty scruffy anyway so a new floor will be getting fitted regardless. Todays pictures are of Don and Dave getting all the old hardware and brackets removed. Pics of the frame etc will be in my next post.

Original speedo reads only 8000 miles.

In the background you can see the MB - soon to be super CJ2A!

64 odd years of dirt and rust.

I'd never seen a keyed coil in real life before! When I first started in parts they were in a catalogue I had but that was it.
